For months now, writing poetry has become part of my daily practice. I suppose it all began while creating my song Roots, which was released on June 22nd and is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and iTunes. That song opened a doorway into a tender and profound space – one of healing and exploration. It gently invited me to look into the story of my kin.

At first, I would sing in the
forest at dawn. But soon, those early morning sessions gave way to quiet
moments: sitting silently on the mighty roots of my favourite trees, my soles
tightly connected to the earth, observing, listening. Eventually, words began
to come. And I began to write.
This shift deepened my journey. I
found myself drawn further into the layers of generational heritage – the
beliefs, the unspoken wounds, the patterns passed down through time. Mark
Wolynn’s book It Didn’t Start with You guided me into these themes in a
deeply heartfelt way. And poetry took my hand at the very moment I was ready to
step into the core of it all.
What I discovered wasn’t complete
understanding – but something perhaps even more valuable: peace. Freedom. Not
from solving, but from simply witnessing. I’m not claiming to have it all
figured out, or to live in perfect serenity. But Wolynn’s words, along with my
own writing practice, have helped me open more fully to love, compassion, and
gentleness. They’ve offered me more space – within and around me.
So, this abundant month of
August, I want to dedicate to poetry – poetry that explores ancestral legacy
and our oneness with All That Is. I’ll be approaching it from different angles,
sharing poems born from my process of understanding where I come from and the
stories carried by those who came before me.
My hope is to invite you inward –
to sit with your own story. Perhaps this practice will help you see more
clearly the tapestry you’ve woven yourself into by being born into your
lineage. I hope to offer a sacred space where you can discover something new
about yourself and those who shaped your path – those who struggled, survived,
and cleared the way for you to be here.
Take your time. Journey gently.
Let yourself feel.
Be generous with yourself. Savour
the moments of deep coherence and divine love. And when heavy emotions rise, be
still with them. Ask them where they come from, and why they’ve arrived.
I wish you a rich and abundant journey. Bon voyage!
